I removed the exhaust manifold from my '58 Chevrolet 1/2 Ton 235 6 Cylinder
engine. There is a flapper and small spring mounted on this manifold. The
flapper is completely frozen, and the spring is therefore useless. I think
this is intended for the heating of the carb in cold weather.
The question is, since I live in warm territory is this flapper necessary?
Or should I just replace the whole thing with headers. Also if someone has
replaced their original manifold with new headers, and has a good
operational manifold, I may be interested in it.
Thanks,
Fred Juch
