I had good luck with a Camaro or Corvette master cylinder. Both have 1
1/8 inch bores. I just tried a few different years at the autoparts
store until I got what I want. The MCs for power brakes have only a
small depression in the end of the plunger. If the one from Heavy Chevy
has a deep hole (a few inches) in the end, I bet some early 70's Camaro
piece with manual brakes would be what you want. If you want even more
volume, I think it was a 1970 1.5 or 2 ton Chevy truck had a 1 1/4 inch
bore.
I made a bracket for power brakes before I knew that the aftermarket
bracket itself is available for 100 bucks. Unless you value your time at
less than 3 bucks an hour, spend the money.
The aftermarket kits use a dual diaphragm booster and master cylinder
from a Mustang II. GM had a similar dual diaphragm booster, and that is
what I used.
I thought I had pictures of my cludged bracket on my website.
Apparently, there are none, so I will post what I have specific to the
bracket within the hour.
