I have a Sears compressor and now know why they are printing the decimal
level on the card IN BIG PRINT. This covers them since the noise this
compressor makes is in the range that would cause permanent ear damage. If
this compressor was used on a commercial site EVERYONE would be required to
use ear protection (per OSHA regulations).
I do not like to let it run in the garage but place it outside and run the
hose back into the garage. I also try to keep EVERYONE away when I use it.
This is not what I wanted in a compressor.

Duncan,
A word of advice. Do not buy a sears oiless compressor if you can avoid it.
They are extremly noisey. So loud it is hard to think when they are
running.
Lowes has a nice 60 gallon Porter Cable compressor for around $400. Not a
bad choice. I was going to buy it when I saw the big 80 gallon 2 stage
Ingersoll Rand compressor at Home Depot. It was $900, I bought it but I was
able to open a home Depot credit card so I got no interest financeing for a
year.
