Well, I have a 45 Chevy 1/2 ton and the device that holds the spare as a
repro cost $200.00. I was bidding on one on exxx and when it went over $150
I jumped. I was looking it the FLAPS and found and purchased a $2.00 spare
tire hold down. Well I slid under the truck and this fit great in one of
the holes in the cross member. Then I was able to spin it up with the
bowtie bolt and the divider/wedge fits great inside my spare rim. I cranked
it tight and the tire will not move or rock around etc. I did have to move
the tail pile about 2 inches towards the driver door. Well this bolt screw
that is holding the tire is only about 1/2 inch thick. Do you think this
will work long term? Am I just asking for trouble? Any other ideas?
Thanks,
NHJim
