All:
I thought it unwise to continue driving my 50 1/2 ton with single master
cylinder and no emergency brake. So I tore into the e-brake assembly to
find out what was wrong there. Turns out the DSPO had removed all the
e-brake parts from the driver-side axle on the rear end (but he left the
brake shoes). No wonder no e-brake action on that side.
Even out here in my usual Mojave desert junkyards, I can't locate a donor
1/2 ton with stock rear end to supply those e-brake parts. This may be
complicated by the fact that it is a 50 rear end still with the Huck brakes,
not the later Bendix brakes.
Anyone out there got a 50 or earlier stock (i.e. Huck brakes) 1/2 ton rear
end laying around that I could buy a few parts off of? I only need
driver-side parts: the spring on the end of the e-brake cable, the lever
arm, the eccentric bolt, and the link assembly.
Thanks in advance --
