I could hardly believe my eyes yesterday when seeing a very nice but
unrestored 1958 Cameo at the local Home Depot in Falls Church, Virginia. It
was completely straight and the glass bed sides too. Though the paint was
really faded there was only a hint of rust on the passenger cab corner. I
had come to get some sand for blasting the fire wall on my 1957 task force.
After completing my errand I stuck around for a bit just to see if the owner
would show up. The owner did not show up so I figured it must belong to
somebody who worked there. It was parked in an area which gets less traffic
but I would thumb a ride before taking that truck to the home depot. For
anyone who does not know, the D.C. area has the dubious distinction of being
the third worst place in the country for driving. I had to wonder if the
person realized the value of what they had. I felt compelled to stick a note
on the window with my phone number asking if they were interested in selling
it. Well, no call yet.
