Rob,
How GM has this configured on the 3rdgen F-bodies, is the fanswitch
controls the ground signal to the relay.
The relay will have 12volts on it at all times, the other side
(ground of the coil) goes to the fanswitch. When temp hits the turn on
point, the switch's resistance is lowered enough to effectively ground the
relay, and turn it "on".
I forget (but can look in my schematics book) if the relay passes
the ground or the voltage to the fan, but either would work.

Subject: [oletrucks] Hooking up fan
switch
I have a Painless 18 circuit wiring harness and have had no problems with
it
except that it has not so good instructions for hooking up a fan relay and
switch. I have a 350 in my truck and picked up a fan switch for a early to
late 80s camaro/firebird. Im sure many of you have done this so if you
could
give me some info it would be appreciated.
Thanks
Rob
