Joe where did you get the codes? The Chevrolet Pickup Red Book doesn't seem to
cover my 55 Cameo with 4Sp Hydramatic.
My engine no are 0409998155B and trans no is CT 55-2991 (8615319.9N20)

The letter D identifies the engine size, hp rating, compression, carb and
transmission.
I didn't find a listing for the letter "D" until 1958 and then again in
1959. The "D" indicates it's:
Built in Flint on 03/27/ 1958 or 1959
V-8 283, 185 Hp, 8:5:1 compression, 2 barrel Carb with a Powerglide tranny
