I have used ATF on routine basis to keep injectors clean in later model 
autos.  It's like Brylcream--a little dab 'l do ya.  An ounce or so per full 
tank every 3-5 tanks.  So...I see how larger quantities down the carb may do 
the trick if you are impatient!
