I seem to remember that "Apache" was the light-duty truck designation, "Viking"
was the medium-duty, and "Spartan" was the heavy-duty beginning in '58 or '59.

Subject: [oletrucks] Today at the Junk Yard
For the first time I took my digital camera to the Junk Yard. Took over 150
photos - I will shrink them and post them to my web site later this month.
However I did get some great parts. I found and pulled off of a GMC a rear
(under bed) tire holder. I think the GMC is somewhere in the 50's and I
will see if this will fit as a temp fix until I can afford a real one for my
45. I also found and pulled the 3 chrome pieces for the dash of my cab.
But the best find was the three trim pieces for the front grill. I did not
know that the two side pieces had screw holes that connected the lower grill
to the frame. Got all of this for $20.00 so it was a very good day.
I have a few questions about what I saw:
What is a VIKING - this looked like an Apache front hood label but the
wording was VIKING (all in caps) then the regular airplane with the
Chevrolet in the body of the plane.
I saw a 41-46 with 3000 labeled on the cowl - any idea what this was. It
looked like it was riveted to the cowl and on both sides.
More to come.....
