If I'm not mistaken in the article from the book "How to restore your
chevrolet pickup" they replace the entire roof and back of the cab. Joe,
on this list, has been giving me advise on this swap and was going to tape
off how he would do it and post the pictures somewhere (or email to
interested parties). I think that someone who knows what they are doing
(unlike myself) could cut the hole in the outer sheetmetal a little larger
than the hole in the inner sheetmetal using a template to make sure that
the cuts on both cabs are the same (cutting outside the line on one cab and
inside the line on the other) and make the final cab look like an original.
Lots of people have chopped the top of their trucks and made them look
good. Check out a recent issue of Custom Classic Trucks (or was it Classic
Trucks?) for an article on this. Splicing in the corner windows should not
be that much more difficult.

Hey Joe, are you still thinking about the cut lines and splicing
procedures?

In one of the first books I purchased there is a demo of changing from 3 to
5. What they did is cut off the tops of both trucks and welded back on the
five. Above the windshield post in the front and below the windows in the
back of the cab. The book is "How to Restore Your Chevrolet Pickup" by Tom
Brownell.

Wow Jon, what a question, some on list seem to think it's possible. I just
sold my 5 window today and had a last really look at the ole girl.

Where the windows are, is double metal and it is recessed where the window
and rubber seal fit.

I guess it could be done, but never look like original. I would suggest to
you to ask Mr. ADler if anyone would know, he would.
