Jim:
I rummaged through the Master Parts Book last night
looking for jack information. For 55.2 thru 59 10x, 15x
and 25x models the only jack parts listed are in group
22.0080
      JACK - LIFTING 2333482
        HANDLE - LIFTING JACK 592796
There are no pictures of either of these, but I believe
the jack is a mechanical screw jack that in silhouette
looks similar to a small hydraulic bottle jack, not a
scissors jack like your picture. I sent a picture of
mine to one of the list members last year. I don't
remember who, but if they still have the pictures maybe
they can forward them to you.

Speaking of rare options, the Master Parts Book
lists as an option for all gas engined TF GMCs an
ASH TRAY - Vacuum powered Group 22.1983 part
                        number 2233728.
I've never seen one and can only imagine that it provides
an intake vacuum source in the top of the ash tray
to cut down on smoke and smell in the cab.

I've been looking for an Owner's Manual for my '57 GMC for
years. No luck yet. I'd settle for a photocopy. I'm
just looking for the information, not necessarily an
original.

The jack that Jim has may be correct for the '58-9, but I
believe it in not the correct one for the '57 and earlier.
I'll check my Master Parts Book tonight and see if the
jack is listed.

Jeff,

You must really believe in Santa Claus. :>) I think you just asked for the
3 rarest items for a 58-59 GMC. I was never able to find an owner's manual
for my 58 but I was able to get a colored photocopy of all pages and made
one up for myself. I do have 2 full sets of parking lite assemblies (one
for use and one for just in case), it took quite a while to get this all
assembled. One thing to be aware of is that the lens are also a left and
right as are the rest of the pieces. Do you have a picture of the correct
jack. I have a jack that I was told was correct and also was told is not
correct. A picture of it is located at
http://www.angelfire.com/mi2/jrvvehicles/gmcMisc.html. Let me know whether
or not you think it is correct.

Good luck,

Jim V.
