I was just having this discussion with my Engine Builder Yesterday and his
opinion was that the 305 was kind of a Dog but on the Upside the heads are
one of the best designed heads going. his suggestion was to use the 305
heads on a 350 I guess they have a better designed flow or something.
I had a 305 in a 79 van years ago and if it's typical of a 305 it was kinda
gutless and had rather poor fuel economy . On the other hand I had a 72Chevy
van with a 350 that got something like 16mpg and
had plenty of power. Just my two cents worth. (coulda been all the smog
stuff on the 79?)
Besides a 350 has to be the cheapest smallblock to rebuild bar none.
