Well if you planning on going with a newer column then I'd kill two birds
with one stone and go for a tilt column with column shift. I've been going
this route for awhile now since it gives more leg room for the third
passenger in the middle.
On one project I had the floor mounted B&M Shifter but after awhile I got
tired of having to bend down to place it in gear or looking down to see If I
selected drive or second. So I don't like the small length shifters
anymore. Beside the passenger would often kick the shifter and put me in
neutral now and then.
On another truck I built for my Dad I went with a Lokar shifter which has a
taller shifter arm and I really like that unit. No more bending down to
select the gear or passenger kicking the shifter because the shifter lever
is higher and their only kicking the bottom base.
