Dave, I just did these on my '48. The door glass must be removed to get at the strips. They slide into a channel spot welded to the inside of the door about an inch or so below the window opening. They ride on the outside of the glass as the window goes up and down. Not the easiest thing I have ever done, but not impossible either. Good luck.
