Thanks to everyone for the advice. It went along the same lines as what I was thinking. Unfortunately, loosening the main cap bolts did not allow the crank to drop down. I think it might have something to do with the large, unsightly cast iron lump hanging from the back of the motor. (Hydramatic) Any more ideas?
