Gary, my book has the "VS" as a 5700 158" wheel base, the "VR" as the 5400
138" wheel base and the "VP" as the 5100 110" wheel base.
I'll take a guess at the number break down:
1 = Plant (Flint)
VS = Model
L = Month Built (December)
1338 = unit number (starting with 1001).
Let me know if I got this all wrong....
Can't help with the engine number.
