I have mahogany in the bed of my '46. I used a mahogany stain that made it
a little more red in color (the truck is red). I'm very happy with it. The
first time out in the rain I was panicking but someone reminded me that they
make boats out of this stuff! No problem, it does well with moisture.

Okay, I know you guys that know me as a pure stock freak are saying, what,
no black painted pine?
Yes, I cheated on this one. Some judges say it's tastefully done and don't
deduct points. Others ding me a point or two, but I'm willing to take the
hit. It looks so good.

Happy truckin'.

Eric,

I also saw a closeout special on Mahogony which
is close to the right color online at one of the wood stores. Anyone tried
either of these for bedwood? It appears that bloodwood is somewhat oily
which causes me to wonder how well it would hold a varnish or polyurethane.
oletrucks is devoted to Chevy and GM trucks built between 1941 and 1959
