Mike,

I am very grateful for the research you have done.

I believe that 3731548 is the casting number because I can see 731548 now
that I have cleaned it better.

It does have the cannister type oil filter.  It is a 2 barrell.

You can bet that I will save this message for future reference when I have
the valve covers off.

I am pleased that this motor has a forged crankshaft and the heavy duty
pistons.  It should last a long time.

Where would the crankshaft number be located?  Any idea of the compression
ratio?  If I am being a nuisance, please let me know...  It is exciting to
find someone with the knowledge you have about this engine.
