Jeff, I had the same thing happen with the DMV. Neither the engine nor the
door plate matched the pink slip. For once, though, I got a decent
bureaucrat, and he just said, "well, they must've changed the engine" and
issued the new pink slip with the door plate number as the vin. I'd
recommend just taking the truck to different offices until you get someone
who will take care of it. I had good luck in Van Nuys.
