One might think that after two or three messages that the thread could go to
off-list emails and leave this list for "ole truck" items. I am sure there
must be model train lists/newsgroups out there somewhere if people are
interested. Sure I have a delete key but since the subject line doesn't
always represent what is in the body of the message I normally open each one
up unless it is an obvious piece of "SPAM".

John, take a deep breath and try to relax a bit! From what I have read on
this list, friendships are formed and it only natural to want to share other
experiences from your life with your friends. I see nothing wrong with
going
off topic occasionally to see what other interests are represented by these
"Oletruck" folks. How hard is it to use your delete key when the subject
plainly states that the e-mail is "off topic"? It is more irritating to me
when a thread has strayed so far from it's origins that the topic has
changed
yet the subject description has not changed for weeks! I could receive mail
described as "AD fuel tank trouble" and open it to find a discussion about
the proper air pressure for the tires on a '58 TF. If I had no interest in
the AD series, I might overlook this message while my '58 continues to be
troubled with flat tires! Simply changing the subject line could have saved
me a call to AAA.
