As someone else pointed out if you going to run 12 volt bulbs on 6 volts they
will be very dim. Don't they make 6 volt dual filament bulbs?
I wanted to respond the the three way switch. Most turn signal conversions ( at
least the seven wire ones) use a switch that have the brake lights run through
it. When you turn on the left signal the left brake light is disconnected from
the brake system and flashes on the flasher system. The right will work
normally.
Also think it may have been you that asked about the spare carrier for the '50
and I didn't notice a reply... There is a 2 foot long L shape arm that rides in
the track you describe. Also two other parts, one that fits on the arm and bolts
the tire to it, and a spacer that fits on top. These are rare and can be
expensive. Jim Carter now reproduces them, I think they are $200 or so. I have
never seen one so I don't know how close he came to looking original.
