I went out and measured one of my engines, a 55 2nd 235. It's 2 inches
from block to back of crank pulley. Perhaps your short shaft pump is the
problem. While I find it hard to believe that any after market part wouldn't
be right ;>) maybe you should take a hard look at the pump.
