that hold that system in look to be pretty hefty.
I am reminded that helicopters have rotors which are held on by a single
bolt, called a Jesus Bolt, for reasons not difficult to imagine. The entire
weight of the machine (less the rotor itself) multiplied by whatever G
forces it undertakes, is suspended from this bolt.
This is not to say that helicopters are safe and therefore we should have no
qualms about relying on bolts holding things together. Indeed, my
impression is that helicopters run contrary to the general rule in life that
things look more dangerous than they really are.
