I think I was the guy with the pictures - but admit to having borrowed all my
ideas from the $400 kits already out there. :) Someone suggested the same
"hydra-boost" idea to me, though I don't know if it's been done yet.
So I spent a day in the junkyard checking out all the cars. Early 70's
station wagons (Town & Country) seemed to have these boosters, and there were
quite a few in my junkyard. Definitely much smaller than a vacuum booster,
and tempting.
The only real downside is the hoses. You pretty much require power steering,
and the stock hoses may be too short. New hydraulic hoses are expensive to
have made up, but pipes can be used for long runs. You'll have short hoses
connecting the power steering pump to the pipes, while you can probably pipe
all the way to the booster.
