as a lot of you know I was planning on attending this years americruise. my
buddy and I had spent July 8-9-10th touching up the truck finishing all the
little things that make a project complete.Saturday the 9th I took it out on
the highway for a shakedown cruise full a/c cruise control, stereo etc.two
hours of the most pleasant driving I've had since beginning this project the
truck performed flawlessly.riding much better now that the new suspension
had a 1000 miles on it.the only thing left to do was install the rear
fenders they were drying at my buddies garage.
at three in the morning on July 10th we had a terrible rain storm over six
inches in about an hour
my wife woke me up and said she smelled gas I woke up and went down stairs
to investigate.my garage is under my bedroom and when I looked down I saw
about 3" of water coming from the garage to the house the wife went to check
on the office and I started to put on my shoes when all of a sudden the
house exploded .the force blew my wife to the ground and blew out all the
windows in the office.the flames shot out of the garage and singed my hair
off one side of my head but luckily no serious injury to my wife and i.my
truck however did not fair as well.a gas can for the mower tipped over in
the flood and the water heater ignited it.
there is over $150,000 damage to the house and the truck is totaled.I did
have insurance on the truck but it was an agreed value of 14,000 this was
until it could be completed an appraisal was made.
the good news:
the insurance company has given me a check and since it is over 9 years old
I can keep it.
while trying to push it out of the garage to be towed
my buddy opened the hood and said there did not seem to be much damage in
the engine compartment.so I climbed in turned the key and she fired right
up.we punched the windows out and took her for a ride.
I think I have found a name for my truck
the phoenix.
