My 700R4 has not electronics, only the extra "ball" inside. Not sure where
the ball was installed (rebuilder did that). After I installed the tranny
behind my 261, I trailered it to his shop and he spent quite awhile driving
my truck and doing a "finer setting" of the TV cable. He asked me not to
drive it until he could set the TV cable. The reason he took so long to set
the TV cable was that I wanted it to go into OD at 35 miles an hour as I
travel a lot of roads in the suburbs that have a 35-mile speed limit. The
closest we could get it was 37 miles per hour shifting into OD. So far so
good. I have 10,000 miles on the new engine and tranny including a trip to
Denver, CO from Seattle and back. This setup really begins to run good at 75
mph on the freeway turning only 2650 RPM.

Most 700's can be hooked up with 12 volts right to the pin from a switched
power
supply. Those kits are not needed for all but a few 700's. You can make it
lock
up in 2nd, 3rd and 4th or 3rd and 4th or just 4th. Its your choice. Most do
not
even require a brake switch. You can also put a quarter inch or a 3/8ths
inch
steel ball on top of the TC switch plunger housing. As soon as it hits 2nd
gear
it locks up the converter, however loosing the slipping capabilities will
reduce
the roadability of the trans. The 700 is a very good trans just avoid shift
kits
except for the booted oil pump plunger. And make doubly sure the TV cable is
correctly set or you can fry a 700 in just a few miles.
