On the 66, the original wiring included a resistor wire from the
ignition switch to the coil...this will fry if you leave it in there!
You need to run a new 14 gage wire from the ignition switch to the HEI
"bat" terminal. Be careful to route it safely, so it will not rub
against any metal, if it shorts out you can light your truck on fire.
I'd suggest adding a 14 gage fusible link in the wire that goes to the +
battery terminal, which feeds power to the whole electrical system.
Note that this is NOT how Chevy trucks up to 59 are wired...these
instructions apply to Dennis's 66.
