The Chevy Duty is much cheaper and its new too not a junkyard find! I paid
$140 for mine. I like mine, but they painted the cap red for some odd
reason. Its got to go, I want a regular black one in there. With a good
carb, it starts with one pump of the gas and it fires off instantly. The
power is so smooth. No more dwell or point setting, ever. I would suggest
starting out with a R43 with a .045" gap, which is one heat range colder
and keep working up to a larger gap to a max of about .060". . It won't
foul out, because of the hotter spark. Some stiffer springs in the vacuum
advance will help bottom end performance by allowing you to run more
initial advance in your timing. It might even increase fuel economy a
little. It will smooth out your idle as well. This is like the octane
selector on your original distributor.
