This is a one-in-a-million shot but. . .
My brother Brian was on vacation on Nantucket island off Massachusetts a
couple of weeks ago and he ran across a TF suburban at the airport on the
island. The body/interior was ok and intact but not phenomenal shape. It
was a 4X4 and apparently not a NAPCO but using late model axles (73-87
vintage?) but under apparently the original frame and at least the upper
part of the original steering column and steering wheel (how did they do that
with late axles?). Brian has a 57 NAPCO and has had a 73-87 4X4 so should
recognize the parts well enough to know what's there. Asking around, he
found that the owner was out of town for an extended period. Since the owner
wasn't around, he didn't feel it proper to disassemble things to find out how
they did the swap/conversion!
Does anyone know anything about this truck or the owner? The engineering was
impressive at a casual examination level.
Like I said, this is a long shot. . .
