I had that trouble with my Muncie 4sp.
I replaced the gear for about $50.00.
The old gear had the leading edge worn.
The new gear had a better tooth pattern.
Seems they changed the angel of the leading
edge to help hold in gear during load transfer
while going from power to glide.
