Hi Jay:
On some rear ends, you may have to rotate the gears a bit to get some more
clearance. The other assumption is that the clip will rotate in the
groove (meaning that it is not frozen, rusted, or tweaked). I am sure that
you tried these already. If so, you might have to drive out the pin
(or remove the lock bolt, depending on type of diff) and remove the
spider gears. Make sure that you make some match marks to make it easier
when you put it all back together.
