The panel/suburban tank is different, so the sender is different. I've fixed several senders by putting a good resistor unit onto a different sender assy...sometimes it takes some soldering to get the "wire" the right length. The newer senders (from the late 60s up) use a 90 ohm resistor, instead of the older 30 ohm resistor, so they won't work. You might want to get a new pickup sender and swap the resistor and float onto your old sender...or just don't worry about it till it quits working.
