Tom, what you have there is rare! To even HAVE the under-bed spare tire
carrier is a very rare thing indeed. I ask first dibs on it if you go to the
side mount!!
My 50 3100 has 29000 original miles on it. I know this by the lack of play
in the steering wheel, the complete lack of wear on the internal engine
parts, and the condition of certain other mechanicals. Even so, doesnt
matter if someone leaves it out in the rain for 50 years. I had a basket
case where rust was concerned but have made it back to a really nice looking
and manageable project.
The 49 has its owners manual in it and was left in a farmers maintenance
shed for most of its life. Even has the original 49 tag in the glove box.
Still, lots of decay as I am afraid all of these 47-55 vintage vehicles
have. Not anywhere near as bad on the 49 as on the 50.
Lemme know what you want for that spare tire carrier!!
Deve
