Jeff, I have had the same problem with an 85 700R4, and have also seen it on other automatics. When the front pump bushing where the converter rides gets worn, the seal will work while it is running, but when it is shut off, the converter can sag just enough to allow oil to leak from the converter through the seal. The solution is a new front pump bushing, and a new converter if it is worn. Woody 53 GMC 1/2T oletrucks is devoted to Chevy and GM trucks built between 1941 and 1959 |
