Gary--
The Chevy trucks from 55-on generally used a 34" wide rear frame. The
88-newer trucks may be different. I believe your 1950 big truck should
have a 36" wide rear frame. Of course, this does not tell you how wide
the spring spacing is, as the springs were usually mounted outboard of
the frame by several inches. Also, the angle of the spring perches on
the rearend probably varied over the years. Spring widths also changed,
the older trucks have narrow springs but newer trucks have wider
springs.
So, you're just gonna have to do some measuring! And, don't be
surprised if you have to reweld the spring perches to make a rearend
work in your 50.
