Ok, maybe I jumped the gun on the bullet thing. Pun intended! I live at almost
8,000 feet elevation and nothing helps up here. You huff and puff, your truck
huffs and puffs at 2,800 feet higher than Denver Colo. At this altitude, good
vacuum is a dream. The most vacuum up here to be expected is around 15 inches.
That's it. Not good, huh? There is about 25% less air up here. Get up to 11,000
feet or higher and the vacuum really plummets. They guaranty vacuum motors to
12 inches. So, this might work well for you flat land and/or sea level guys,
but vacuum wipers and high altitude don't mix well. BTW, what vacuum reading do
you sea level guys get? I went over the Molas pass (11,000 ft., plus) in Colo
in my 57 ½ ton and was very thankfull for electric wipers. It was snowing
sideways, the wind was blowing and I was going up hill with my foot heavy on
the gas in first for 15 miles and just off the right side of the road is a
2,000 foot drop off, maybe a 65 or 70º decline. It would have been suicidal to
make that drive with vacuum wipers, it nearly suicidal as it was. Am I the only
one who lives in high altitudes? I wonder if these guys can fix me up? That
would be something to have working vacuum wipers in the mountains going up
hill. Oh, one thing I have done in the past, but not recently is too wax the
windshield with Johnson's pastse wax for floors, the one in the yellow can. Its
a hard wax and lasts a long time. Lemon Pledge is a cheap lazy fix, no hard
rubbing. It sheds water very well and helps the wipers glide across the glass.
