I have a 46 Chevy (neg ground).
Well I spent some time in the junk yard today and came away with a few
parts. The horn I selected to bring home was under the hood (covered) of a
GMC (49 or 50) pos ground? Will this make a differance? It looks original,
long and straight.
Well I have lubed it up and can take the mounting bracket off. I have also
remove the two screws on top of the rubber rings. This leave two long bolts
sticking up with nuts on the bottom. I can spin these nuts and the bolts
spin. I have also removed the screw on the back of the horn and have
attempted to remove the bolt inside the
horn tube.
I can get no further in taking this apart. I have attempted with wires
directly connected to my 6 volt battery to get the horn to do anything. I
have tried each of the 4 contact points with no noise. I have tested all
points with a 6 volt tested and no power is flowing through the horn.
How should this horn be wired?
Can you buy new guts?
If yes, from where?
Any ideas how to get this outside shell apart to take a look inside.
Can these be repaired or do you just fine one that works?
Any pointers will be appreciated.
Thanks
Jim House
