I think you'll find that swapping bodies is more work than you bargained
for. If a better ride quality and disc brakes are what you're after, then
I'd consider one of the several subframe options available.
If saving $$ is the main objective, then I would rebuild what you have,
maybe add a power booster to the braking, and save up until you have money
available for a suspension conversion.
