My 57 GMC has a Spicer 45 rear end that has a rather large "45" casting
mark.
I haven't noticed that the drums were unusual, but to be truthful I haven't
turned or replaced the rear drums in the 13 years I have had the truck.

Eric - Mike - Jim - Thanks for the reply on the Posi Rearend - The number
"45" is stamped in two places on this rearend so would this identify it as a
Dyna 45? The S/N C30147 is stamped on the R/H top rear carrier (facing
forward).
I spoke to the original owner that I purchased the truck from and he swears
it came from the factory with this setup and he wasn't aware of the odd ball
drum setup (I believe him as the truck only has 56,000 original miles) and
he
had the brakes relined once!
Guess I'll try NAPA tomorrow and see what the 65 GMC Dana rear drums look
like.
Regards - John Sutherland
