Nice thing about our list is all the different opinions about everything
under the sun. I guess I learn something from reading all of them...even
the ones from the "flamers". Makes me stop and think if there's something
I'm doing to waste somebody's time.
Now that we're approaching the new year (and new milleneum) maybe it's time
to start a thread that could clean up our list a little. If we can keep
this CONSTRUCTIVE and not let it turn into a b*tch session, I'd say let's
list the things that waste our time on the list. In other words, let's look
at how we can be even better than we are.
Peeves of mine.....
1. Not changing the subject line when responding to an email with a
totally different question or subject. Only takes a second to do
this....and it's SO helpful to everyone who wants to save time by deleting
the messages that are of no interest.
2. Really long-winded lead-ins to simple questions....."My cousins was
over the other day, he's the one with the '69 Camaro that has the blown
engine, and we were talking about how cold it's been and how we can't wait
till Spring......" ...and on and on. All leading up to a simple question
like, "How do you align the door on a '58?" Not many of us have the time to
read all the extra words and don't need them even if we had the time. One
of the things I love about Bob ADler's comments is that there always
straight to the point... short and sweet.
3. Responding to the whole list when a comment should be directed to just
one or two people.
4. A strong second to Jim Forbes's comment about deleting the previous
emails (or parts of emails) when responding to an email.
I could fill up pages with all the things I love about this list. Again,
just wanted to say how we could be even better. Been on the list for two
years now...and it's just incredible.
