I just got the head off the 59 235 I found at the wrecking yard last
weekend. I thought I have a real find because the whole engine was so
clean. Well, water must have gotten into the cylinders with the result that
cylinders 1 through 4 have a lot of rust. (I was suspicious when I couldn't
turn the engine after I got it on the engine stand.) I want to get a head
rebuilt but I would appreciate advice whether its worth it when the
combustion chambers in the head are full of rust and the valves (both intake
and exhaust) are rusted shut. I was able to loosen them by pounding on the
valve stem after I removed the rockers. I need the head to use on a 261.
Please let me know whether I should forget about this head and try to find
another.
Thanks
