You can get some usefull info from the Restoration Info Pack, available
from Chevy, 1-800-222-1020...have your VIN ready, and also be prepared
to ask to talk to a supervisor if the person you get on the line doesn't
know what you are talking about.
The VIN on task force trucks looks like:
V3B59L123456
V means V-8 (no character here if it was a 6 originally)
3B is the model...this is a long bed 1/2 ton, 3A is short 1/2, 3E is 3/4
ton
59 is the year
L is Los Angeles, the assembly plant (others are: Atlanta, Baltimore,
Flint, Janesville (WI), Kansas City, Norwood, Oakland, St Louis, and
Tarrytown. G is GM Truck.
The next 6 numbers are the sequential identification number.
