Hello All
I was wondering if there was some one or some place where I could
find out what gears came in what vehicles?...The reason is this... I
want to experiment with the gears in my differential so that I may
get the performance I desire.... Now I have a converted 4 link 10
bolt rear end with a 7-1/2" carrier with 3:42 gears from an S10
pickup in it... These 10 bolt rear ends are quite stout and take a
variety of rear gears if the carrier is the same... Sometimes you
have to change the carrier but I've been told that any 3... gear will
fit a 3...carrier and any 2... gear will fit a 2... carrier, same
thing with a 4...etc. So If I want to find a 3.08 or a 3.23 how do I
find out which vehicles they came in...ie: a 82 camaro 2.8 litre
with auto trans has a 3.42 gear and a 84 Pontiac Firebird with
standard 4 speed has a 3.73 gear, a S10 blazer 4 X4 has 4:11 posi or
limited slip, and a 78 Malibu Classic with a V8-267(ugh) automatic
has a posi/limited slip 2.92?... etc
If there is a rear end guru out there lets bounce this around a
little bit and see what results...
Just curious!
