The local True Value hardware store provided a spray bomb that
matches the factory "Metallic Mushroom" interior paint pretty closely. The
product is in the Premium Rust-Oleum Metallic series and is called "7272 Dark
Bronze Metallic." I shot a test strip on white cardboard and found that it
matches pretty darned close to the original '51 interior color. The clearest
look at the original paint color was provided by removing the custom plywood
door upholstery panels (!) and by polishing up a part of the interior window
trim piece. I will be doing spot refinishing and some entire pieces as the
project moves along. Should this product not work out for any reason, I will
make another post about it.
