If this is a show truck, then definitely go with silicone fluid. If you plan
on driving hard at all, I wouldn't use silicone fluid. It has a lower
boiling point, and the brakes will get spongy. If you plan on driving really
hard, F&#d DOT 3 fluid has a really high boiling point. If you want to get
rid of the moisture problem so everything will last forever, try using
Castrol GTLMA fluid. Just be aware GTLMA is THE most effective paint
stripper, especially for lacquer and enamel. The stainless sounds like a
good idea, but I don't know who does this. I'm not sure if it's necessary,
but I'm an advocate for overkill.
A little story-
I had a '57 Triumph and a '77 Datsun sit for about 3 years each. The Triumph
had GTLMA in it (It's the only fluid that won't eat the seals) and the
Datsun had some DOT 3 generic stuff. The brakes didn't work on either after
three years. Upon disassembly, the Triumph was found to have some crud and
goop in the cylinders, which was easily cleaned out. The Datsun cylinders
had pitting all over about 1/8 in diameter and 1/8 deep. The moral of this
story: bleed your brakes, or use fluid that doesn't absorb water.
