[oletrucks] Painting Stainless

I am working on my bed for my 50 project and have had stainless bed
strips for a while. I bought stainless because they contact the wood and
I never wanted to have to replace them again. Now I'm thinking the two
strips against the bedsides I would like to spot weld on, seal the tops
to keep out debris and moisture an paint the same as the sides. Has
anyone painted these and had any luck having the paint last? I was going
to grit blast and epoxy prime. Thanks in advance.
