Your engine will be a 216 as it was very rare to find a 52 or earlier with
anything but. The 235 was used in Canadian 1/2 tons starting in 1953 but
were available in larger trucks eg. 1.5 tons, 2 tons etc. as an option in
earlier years. The comment about the GMC engine in Canadian 1/2 tons is
wrong as the only engines available, based on literature obtained from GM as
well as in several period service manuals (GM and Motors) for Canadian
trucks were the 216 and 235 engines.
