I am putting together another rear axle for my 50 project. I had been
using a 53 axle with a Task Force meatball installed and the spring
pivot rubber bushings replaced with round stock welded solid. This
worked good until I noticed a oily spot around the weld on the axle, it
had cracked the housing, I decided there might be to much torque there
with an open driveline and put together a 55 housing with spring perches
welded on and U bolts. Was going through it and found some pitting on
wheel bearings. Originals were Hyatt CR1502 and Napa crossed them to BCA
brand R1502-EL. They fit real well on the axle out of the box but after
pressing them into the housing they were tight on the axle so much that
I had to tap the axle with a dead blow while rotating. They spin OK now
but I can feel and almost hear a rythmic rumble while rotating. Anyone
have any advice.
