Please help me to explain the factory cut out in the dash?(It has a
beautifully crafted ?lip? that fits around the shifter), I can assure you
that It has the original dash in it.
Also explain the fact that there are 3 of us out here with the same
situation?
All of us have LATE EP designations on our VINs. Also I would like your
take on the MID-OCTOBER revision of the 1947 specifications? And also the
fact that it wasn't untill FEBUARY 1948 that the 1948 specifications were 1st
presented?
Any one have any info?
Or could verify that they have a LATE '47 with a column shifter >>
I've seen the cabs without cutout for shift column on big trucks that came
with 4 speed (floor shift) only. I don't have an answer for the late EP with
col shift.
I just dug out 1947-8 Chevrolet service News. Nothing on col shift in 1947.
Feb 48 issue introduces 1948 model cars and trucks. The "new" transmission
is explained in detail. the new 4 speed is also explained with complete
servicing directions. chev Service News was a monthly publication of the
service dept. which was to kep dealer mechanics updated on the latest
repairs before they got into the annual shop manual. Maybe the EP col shifts
are prototypes.
